System Operation

The Spotlight Application Suite uses advanced business rules technology (in the form of decision tables) to express the complete logic of an application. The decision table is the basis for a visual Design Studio that builds a completely validated and tested native Teradata application. The modules of the product suite are:
  • the Design Studio (where applications are designed, validated, tested, and generated)
  • the Run-time environment (where the completed application is executed)
  • the Admin/Dashboard interface (used to manage users, applications, and system activity)
These elements interact as shown in the diagram below.

Deployment Options

Most customers will want multiple Design Studio seats that can be run on deskside or laptop systems belonging to the business users. Admin and IT staff will typically want one administrative seat and multiple dashboard instances.

During logon to the modules, a user can specify the database name (DSN) for any Teradata system (so long as they have proper permissions). For example, a user may want to connect to a "test" system instead of "production".
